Chinese Court Forbids Windows XP

chinese court forbids windows xpChinese court decided that Microsoft is pledged guilty in a legal case. This largest software company in the world is declared to violate intellectual property related to the particular font usage in its operational system.

The court in Beijing decided that Microsoft has violated the law for using and selling a particular font type that belongs to a Chinese company named Zhongyi Electronic Ltd.

To this Chinese court decision, Microsoft is determined that they are not quilt.

“We plan to bring this case to a higher court. Microsoft respects all intellectual properties. We are sure that our license agreement with the prosecutor, have been covering the mentioned font usage,” said Microsoft.

Because of this decision, Microsoft is prohibited to sell their operational systems that use this font, including Windows XP that is widely available in the market currently. Fortunately, the latest operational system, Windows 7, does not get the impact.

The spokesperson form Zhongyi said that they plan to ask for compensation to Microsoft. They still study how much the expected compensation is.
