UNDP listed the data by using 2007 data on the gross income average, education and living expectation age. The data shows that there is significant discrepancy between developed and third world countries.”Even though there is a progress shown, it is not in balance,” said UNDP.

“Many countries experienced a setback in the last few decades. They have been facing declining economical sector, conflict-related crisis and HIV/AIDS epidemic, and it already happened before the impact of global economic crisis is perceived.”

The living expectation age in Nigeria is 50 years old and it is about 30 years shorter than in Norway as the index showed. For every US dollar obtained by a single person in Nigeria, it is equal to US $85 obtained by a single person in Norway.

The index also shows that half of populations in 24 poorest countries are illiterate, while in the developed countries the percentage is 20%.

The Japanese live longer with the average 82.7 years old. It is almost twice as much as the living expectation age in Afghanistan that is only 43,6 years old.

Liechtenstein has the highest gross income per capita which is US $ 85,383. It is a small kingdom country with a population of 35,000 people, 15 banks and more than 100 wealthy management companies. On the contrary, the poorest people are recorded to be in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the gross income per capita is only US $ 298 per year.

Five countries, China, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia and French, increased 3 levels or more compared to the previous year. It is encouraged by a higher gross income and a longer living expectation age. China, Colombia and Venezuela were also recorded to better in term of education.

UNDP have been publishing this kind of index since 1990. The index shows the global increase of human development of every country in the world. China, Iran and Nepal were recognized as the most improved countries in the UNDP mapping.
