This Year CMA Award gave a very historical moment in the country music industry. The 2009 CMA was like a continuous fresh air nicely wrapped up in a 3 hour duration show. The history making was started by Taylor Swift who came up as The Entertainer of The Year Award. In her 19 years old of age, Swift was the youngest artist ever to receive this prestigious award. She was also the first solo female winning this award in a decade after Shania Twain in 1999. It also meant that Taylor has succeeded to overthrow the supremacy of the Outstanding Kenny Chesney in this year CMA Award.
Besides that, She also won several other awards: Video of The Year, Female Vocalist and Album of The Year. That evening was pretty much Swift’s, wasn’t it?
Another history was also made by Darius Rucker. He was the first African American winning the Award of New Artist of The Year. It was such an excellent achievement made by Darius to win this major individual award after Charley Pride.
This evening was even rocking with the performance of Swift and Rucker. Besides that, there was plenty more thrilling yet memorable scenes presented here, making this 2009 CMA outstanding that in past years.
The award was colored by a number of critical new artist entries into the nominations list. Some of these were Lady Antebellum who won 2 Awards as Vocal Group of The Year as well as Single of The Year; and Jamey Johnson who won for Song of The Year Award.
The CMA Award was getting heating up and fresher with more dramatic and outstanding performances, such as Zac Brown Band with Charlie Daniels classic “Devil Down To Georgia”; the last CMA performance of the about-to-retire Brooks and Dunn; Jamey Johnson paired with Kid Rock; George Strait with awesome Martina McBride and also the first coming back of Tim McGraw.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood hosted this year CMA and they successfully brought up fresh very funny humors on the stage. The amusement was even topped when Little Jimmy Dickens imitating Kenya West’s incident by jumping on the stage, cutting of Paisley remarks and then shouting “”I’ll let you finish later. I know you had a nice video and all, but Taylor Swift made the best video of all time. Of all time! You go, girl!”
Well, the whole show was actually Kanye West-related humor indeed.
Besides all these excitements, the show also gave some tributes to American troops. Another heartwarming moment was when Sugarland, who just won Duo of The Year Award, gave the honor for one last time to Brooks and Dunn by giving the mic to them, but BnD declined.
What a night is the only expression for 2009 CMA!
